Former Summer Help Soon-To-Be Father Cone
Each year Catholic Cemeteries employs summer seasonal workers to help maintain the grounds. Within that group we typically have two or three seminarians. A little sweat on the brow, dirt under the fingernails, and a few dollars in the pocket all help the seminarians on their journey. The seminarians are good for us; they love to talk about the faith and are typically diligent workers. And we are good for the seminarians, not only financially, but to give them the opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation for the quiet and often unseen work involved in the corporal work of mercy, burying the dead. In 2017, I received a call from the Diocese of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They had a seminarian who was spending some time in Omaha before attending IPF (Institute for Priestly Formation). Did we have some work for him to help defray some of his costs? We brought Tim in and he fit like a custom made suit. Hard working, no job to big nor too menial, and ALWAYS a smile on the face. Fast forward to 2019, when I received an invitation to attend soon-to-be Father Tim Cone’s ordination and first Mass. I will drive up to attend his first Mass in Sioux Falls to be held on Saturday morning, June 1. I will bring with me all the best wishes from our entire staff. I am confident that Father Tim’s energy, love for Christ, and ever present smile will positively impact the Diocese of Sioux Falls. Thanks, Tim, for allowing us to be a part of your journey.
